KGB - 091119

This morning the 3 of us decided to cycle to KGB - Kem Ghaffar Baba. It is about 5kms from Kampung Kemansah. The last time I rode this track was about 2 years ago. There are lot more 'penceroboh' hutan simpanan now as compare to 2 years ago.

Dzul taking a breather after a long climb

Both Kamat n Dzul still can smile after another long n steep climb. I m already half dead.

At the top. You can see, in the back ground, the housing estate.

After the ride we had tosai for breakfast n Dzul hd a new carbon fork n super slick tyres. He managed to reduce his MTB weight by another 1.4kg.

Now his Dorcus MTB weighs only 10.4kg jer. kalau dia tukar the wheelset with ZTR Olympic bolih reduce by another 500gm kut. :-) racun lagi

NO RIDING TODAY BUT .....

Today I did what most ppl wud think twice abt doing it. I washed all my bikes .... all 7 of them. It took me more than 3 hours! Washed the frames, cleaned the tyres, washed n oiled the chains, washed the front n rear deraileurs n etc...
It was very tiring but gave me lots of satisfaction doing it. Why do I need 7 bicycles? I think i m crazy about bicycles. It is such a beautiful machine - giving u lots of pleasure riding it - be it a Road Bike, Mountain bike or Hybrid.

TEKALA - 091114

There were 10 of us this morning. Kamat n Faridah, Mek Yam, Pak Nyan, Chew, James, Doc Taufik, Yap, Yam n Sabri. We started cycling at 0740hrs towards the Peres junction, which is about 11.5km from our RV point. 7 riders turned left going up Peres. Whilst, Mek Yam, Yam n me decided to go back to BT18 n cycled towards Pangson. Instead of making a u-turn at Pangson, we decided to cycle up to the base camp of Gunung Nuang - an extra 2kms of nice uphill ride.
Total distance covered today was 39.6kms.

Maglish? we saw this on our way to Pangson

Yap washing his mean machine - without fail after every ride. Even with a bottle of water.

Have u ever wonder why the carpark at BT18 is in such a bad state? This is the culprit - a SJ bus uses it as a turning point.

GAP - 091107

We left the house at 0630hrs in order to be in Bentong by 0715hrs but we only managed to arrive there at 0736hrs. Already waiting at Kow Po were Doc Sani, Doc Alwi n Doc Taufik. There were others late arrival n we only managed to start at 0800hrs - first group n 0830hrs - second group.

getting ready for the ride at 0740hrs. Doc Alwi n Doc Sani were all ready to go

Total of 13 riders took today's challenge to ride 102km from Bentong to Gap vv. They were Doc Alwi, Doc Sani, Doc Taufik, Dr Che Nyan, Kamat n Faridah, Moira, Wan Yam n Wan Sabri, Yap n Norman, Han n James.

On the way up there were a few stoppages - Moira bike's chain snapped - so they connected it back using connector pin. After Tranum on the way up to Gap, Moira again had another accident - this time she fell into the drain but luckily no serious damage except a sprained wrist n a bruised ego. We packed her bike n the owner into the support car :) Then Doc Taufik had a punctured.

By this time Doc Alwi, Doc Sani n Dr Che Nyan were already waiting for us at the top - a very long wait i reckoned.

With all those episodes, we managed to reach the top at 1230hrs - total cycling time was 3 hours but 2 hours of waiting n repairing time.

Having some refreshments at the top

It took us 2 hours 35 mins to cycle back to Bentong. 2 hour of cyling n 35 mins rest n repairing one puncture.

Just before Sang Lee, my energy level was showing 'E'. Luckily Yam got a spare powerbar gel. It really help - you can feel the enegry returning as fast as 5 mins after consuming it.

Total calories burned was 3246kcal. A very enjoyable but tough ride. My left knee was hurting on the way up as I didn't take my glucosamine supplement for the last few days.

I was cycling up from Tranum to Gap at a cadence of 70rpm n maintaining a heart beat of 150bpm all the way up.
